Forde House

Forde House, also known as Old Forde House, is a historic Grade I listed manor located in Newton Abbot, Devon, England, dating back to around 1550. Originally the manor of Wolborough, it was significantly enlarged in 1610 and features exquisite 17th-century wood-carving and plasterwork. The house has a rich history, having hosted King Charles I and Oliver Cromwell during the Civil War. It was owned by notable families, including the Courtenays, and has served various purposes over the centuries. Today, it functions as office and conference space for Teignbridge District Council, while also hosting weddings and events, making it a fascinating site for both tourists and researchers interested in English heritage.
