Air Force Command Building, Belgrade

The Air Force Command Building, located at 12 Aviatic Square in Zemun, Belgrade, is a striking example of Yugoslav modern architecture, designed by renowned architect Dragiša Brašovan and completed in 1935. This monumental structure, characterized by its unique asymmetrical tower and the symbolic statue of Icarus, reflects the architectural innovation of the interwar period. Historically significant, it housed the first medical commission for pilots in 1945 and later became home to the Air Force Museum in 1957. The building suffered damage during the NATO bombing in 1999 but was restored to its original design in the early 2000s.
