Michigan Central Station subterranean platforms and service levels

Michigan Central Station, the historic rail depot in Corktown, was built with multiple below-grade platforms, concourses, and service tunnels that supported long-distance passenger rail operations. The station opened in 1913, ceased passenger service in 1988, and its lower levels were sealed and left largely unused for decades. The building was purchased by Ford Motor Company in 2018 and has been the focus of redevelopment plans that include restoration and repurposing of interior spaces. The station's subterranean infrastructure remains a prominent feature cited in preservation and redevelopment documentation.
