Edward Albert Palmer Memorial Chapel and Autry House

The Edward Albert Palmer Memorial Chapel and Autry House is a historic building complex at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Originally built in 1921 as a community center by the Episcopal Church, it served as a vital gathering space for students before the Fondren Library opened in 1949. The complex includes the Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church, which expanded in 1929. Over the decades, the Autry House adapted to serve the Texas Medical Center community and hosted various groups, including the Houston Youth Chorus. Renovated in the 1970s to include an art gallery, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. A bridge connecting the chapel and house was completed in 2001, enhancing its role in the community.
