Roll-A-Palace

The Roll-A-Palace Disco Skating Rink, established in 1977 in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, was a vibrant roller disco venue that transformed a former movie theater into a popular skating destination. At its peak in 1979, it attracted over 5,000 visitors each weekend and was celebrated as a leader in the roller-disco craze. The rink featured a state-of-the-art light and sound system, a snack bar, and hosted special events like the debut of the 'Disco Dip' dance. Its legacy includes influencing local DJs and contributing to the rise of house and electro music. Although it eventually transitioned to a fitness center, the Roll-A-Palace remains a nostalgic symbol of the disco era and roller skating culture in New York City.
