Taq-e Zafar

The Taq-e Zafar, or Arch of Victory, is a striking memorial arch located in Paghman, Afghanistan, commemorating the country's independence following the Third Anglo-Afghan War in 1919. Constructed in 1928 under King Amanullah Khan, the arch features Greco-Roman classical architecture and was part of a grand redesign of Kabul. Once a vibrant holiday retreat for the elite, Paghman suffered extensive damage during the Soviet-Afghan War but has since been restored and revitalized. Today, the arch stands as a symbol of resilience and is a popular destination for both local residents and tourists, showcasing beautiful white marble and intricate calligraphy by Afghan artists.
