Luxor Las Vegas is a pyramid-shaped hotel-casino that opened in 1993; the resort's exterior includes a powerful Sky Beam produced by 39 xenon lamps. The Sky Beam is one of the most intense commercial beams of light in the world and has been a notable Las Vegas landmark since the hotel's opening. The pyramid design and beam are intended as a distinctive, highly visible feature on the southern Strip.
