Caesars Palace (Roman-themed resort architecture)

Caesars Palace opened in 1966 and introduced an extensive Roman imperial theme to Las Vegas resort design, using colonnades, statuary, and monumental water features as defining architectural elements. The resort has been repeatedly expanded, including the addition of the Forum Shops, creating a large integrated hotel-casino-retail complex that exemplifies themed megaresort architecture on the Strip. Caesars Palace's design and scale influenced later decades of large, themed resort developments in Las Vegas.
