Chinese Tower

The Chinese Tower, a 25-metre wooden pagoda-like structure located in Munich's Englischer Garten, was built between 1789 and 1790 and opened to the public in 1792. Originally serving as an observation deck, it has become a beloved landmark despite suffering destruction during World War II and being reconstructed in 1952. The tower is surrounded by restaurants and a historic carousel, and hosts the annual Kocherlball festival. While public access has been restricted since the 1970s, the tower remains a significant cultural site, accessible during special events and known for its unique architecture inspired by Chinese design.
