Dallas Love Field-departure point for JFK's body and Johnson's swearing-in

Dallas Love Field airport was the site where President John F. Kennedy's body was loaded onto Air Force One on November 22, 1963, after he was pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital. The aircraft departed Love Field carrying the President’s casket en route to Andrews Air Force Base, where the autopsy would be performed at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as President aboard Air Force One on the tarmac at Love Field before the plane's departure.
