Cathedral of Junk

A large backyard assemblage-style installation created and continually expanded by Vince Hannemann beginning in 1988. It is made from thousands of discarded objects - appliances, bicycles, toys and other 'junk' - welded and stacked into towers, tunnels and rooms. The site is on private property in South Austin and has been opened irregularly for public visits and tours by appointment. The structure is a documented example of outsider/folk environmental art in Austin.
