Tribute in Light

Tribute in Light is an annual public art installation of two vertical columns of light projected into the sky above Lower Manhattan to commemorate the September 11 attacks. The work was first displayed on March 11, 2002 and has been exhibited on or near September 11 in most years since. The twin beams are produced by arrays of xenon spotlights and can be seen for miles on clear nights. The installation is organized by the Municipal Art Society and partner organizations as a temporary memorial artwork.
