Destruction of the World Trade Center Twin Towers

The Twin Towers of the original World Trade Center complex were destroyed in terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, causing the complete collapse of both towers and the clearing of the 16-acre World Trade Center site. The disappearance of the towers led to the construction of a new complex including One World Trade Center and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.
