The building has undergone various alterations over the centuries, including a brick-rebuilt ground floor and an early 18th-century rear wing addition. Inside, visitors can admire preserved historic elements such as wooden panelling, a reset staircase, and a charming fireplace. Designated as a Grade II* listed building in 1954, it is currently managed by the York Conservation Trust and operates as a shop with a residential flat above, making it a unique blend of history and modern use.
