Old North Church steeple signaling

Christ Church in the City of Boston (Old North Church) at 193 Salem Street is the site where two lanterns were hung in the steeple on April 18, 1775, to signal that British troops were advancing by sea; this historic use of the steeple was part of the events leading to Paul Revere's ride. The church's tower has long served as a high visual vantage over Boston Harbor and the North End/Charlestown approaches. The building and its steeple remain preserved as a documented Revolutionary-era signaling location on the Freedom Trail.
