Lamar–Calder House

The Lamar–Calder House, located in Richmond, Texas, is a historic site that showcases Greek Revival architecture. Originally part of the Lamar Plantation, the house was built between 1859 and 1861, although Mirabeau B. Lamar, for whom it is named, never lived there as it was completed posthumously. The house served as a family home for Lamar's widow and later for their daughter and her family until 1900. It remained in the Hendee family for nearly a century before passing to new owners. Recognized for its historical significance, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, making it a notable destination for tourists and researchers interested in Texas history.
