Cathedral of Junk

Located in a South Austin backyard, the Cathedral of Junk is an assemblage sculpture begun in 1988 by local builder Vince Hannemann and has grown to include thousands of discarded objects. The multi-room, tower-like structure sits on private property and opens to visitors only on limited public days or by appointment. It is a well-documented example of Austin folk art and a tucked-away attraction visited by photographers and locals.
