David Ramsay House

The David Ramsay House, located in Charleston, South Carolina, is a historic home built before 1740. It became the residence of Dr. David Ramsay, a notable historian and physician who introduced the smallpox vaccine to the city. Ramsay was also an influential political figure, serving in the Continental Congress and the South Carolina House of Representatives. The house features exquisite Georgian woodwork, particularly in the main parlor, which is celebrated as one of the finest examples of Georgian paneling in America. The house was recorded by the CWA in 1934, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American history.
