California Theatre-historic downtown movie palace turned performance venue

Opened in 1927 as a movie palace, the California Theatre is a restored downtown San Jose performance venue. After periods of decline it was renovated and now hosts live performances including Opera San José productions, touring Broadway shows, and concerts. The theater retains many architectural elements from its original era and anchors San Jose's historic theater district.
