Withers-Chapman House

The Withers-Chapman House, built circa 1835 in Huntsville, Alabama, is a historic residence that showcases Federal style architecture with Greek Revival details. Originally part of a significant dairy farm, it has a rich history, including ownership by former Alabama Governor Reuben Chapman. The house features a striking pedimented portico with Tuscan columns and retains many original architectural elements. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Nearby, the Monte Sano Dairy, known for its legendary butter-producing cow Lily Flagg, played a vital role in the community, providing milk during significant historical events, including the Spanish-American War and the Great Depression.
