Academy of Music (Philadelphia)

The Academy of Music opened in 1857 and is the oldest continuously used opera house in the United States. The neoclassical performance hall was constructed to house large-scale musical and theatrical productions and has served as a principal venue for the Philadelphia Orchestra and touring companies. Its original auditorium and stage infrastructure continue to support live performances and historic preservation efforts.
