Elfreth's Alley

Elfreth's Alley dates to 1702 and is often described as the nation's oldest continuously inhabited residential street, containing a row of houses built predominantly between the early 18th and early 19th centuries. The Alley reflects the lives of artisans and tradespeople who lived there during Philadelphia's colonial and early national periods. A small museum on the Alley interprets its residential and craft history for visitors.
