Caldwell House, Singapore

Caldwell House is a historic building in Singapore, designed by Irish architect George Drumgoole Coleman and constructed between 1840 and 1841. It is part of the CHIJMES complex, which has been a significant site since the Sisters of the Holy Infant Jesus established their convent there in 1854. Originally built for H. C. Caldwell, the house has served various purposes over the years, including as a school and orphanage. After extensive restoration, it now functions as a venue for weddings known as the Alcove at Caldwell House, while also housing the Australian restaurant Whitegrass. The site is recognized as a national monument, reflecting its rich history and architectural significance.
