Markle House and Mill Site

The Markle House and Mill Site, located in Otter Creek Township, Vigo County, Indiana, is a historic landmark built in 1848, showcasing Greek Revival architecture with Italianate influences. Visitors can explore the two-story painted brick dwelling featuring a charming front porch with Doric columns. Although Markle's Mill was destroyed by fire in 1938, remnants of its stone and concrete foundations, along with the dam, can still be seen. The site, which also includes an outhouse and carriage house, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. However, plans are underway to demolish the dam site in September 2023.
