Harker Building

The Harker Building, completed in 1878, is a historic structure located in southwest Portland, Oregon. Originally home to the Oregon Conservatory of Music, it later became a Chinese Mission after being purchased by a United Brethren congregation in 1918. In 2001, Thomas Lauderdale acquired the building, transforming it into a vibrant event space that features the phrase 'Je ne veux pas travailler' on its exterior. The cast-iron building has also served as a venue for the Western Picture Frame Company and rehearsals for the band Pink Martini, making it a notable site for both tourists and researchers interested in Portland's cultural history.
