RFK Stadium as longtime home of the Redskins and D.C. United

Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, opened in 1961 (originally D.C. Stadium), served as the home of the NFL's Washington Redskins from 1961 through 1996. RFK was also the inaugural home of Major League Soccer club D.C. United, which played at the stadium from MLS's 1996 inaugural season through 2017. The venue hosted numerous international soccer matches, marquee concerts, and other major sporting events during its decades of use.
