Thoreau–Alcott House

The Thoreau–Alcott House, located at 255 Main Street in Concord, Massachusetts, is a historic residence that once housed renowned writers Henry David Thoreau and Louisa May Alcott. Built in 1849 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, the house is notable for its literary significance. Thoreau lived there from 1850 until his death in 1862, while Alcott later purchased the home for her sister and wrote her novel 'Jo's Boys' there. Although it remains privately owned today, the house offers a glimpse into the lives of two influential American authors.
