The Sphere (Fritz Koenig)

The Sphere is a large bronze sculpture by Fritz Koenig that originally stood in the plaza of the World Trade Center, installed in 1971. The sculpture was damaged during the September 11, 2001 attacks but was recovered, conserved, and relocated to Liberty Park, where it was reinstalled in 2017 as a memorial and public artwork. The Sphere remains a visible artifact linking pre- and post-9/11 histories of the World Trade Center site.
