San Francisco Botanical Garden

San Francisco Botanical Garden spans roughly 55 acres in Golden Gate Park and contains more than 8,000 different kinds of plants from around the world organized into geographic and thematic collections. It was established in 1928 as the San Francisco Municipal Arboretum and Botanical Garden and is managed by the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department with nonprofit support. The garden emphasizes public education, conservation, and research and offers docent-led tours and public programs.
