Parkman Tavern

The Parkman Tavern, located at 20 Powder Mill Road in Concord, Massachusetts, is a historic structure dating back to the late 17th century, specifically around 1659. Built by skilled ship's carpenters, this 2+1⁄2-story timber-frame building features a distinctive design with wider wall frames at the top of the first story, a side-gable roof, and a large central chimney. Originally constructed by a member of the prominent Wheeler family, it later became a tavern operated by William Parkman, the great-uncle of renowned historian Francis Parkman. The tavern was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in early American architecture and history.
