Bank of Cairo

The Bank of Cairo, now known as Cairo Town Hall, is a historic bank building in Cairo, West Virginia, built in 1897. This 2+1⁄2-story brick structure showcases Romanesque and neoclassical architectural details, including a distinctive corner entrance. Originally founded by Jacob Cattaui, the son of an affluent Egyptian banker, the bank operated in this location from 1897 to 1931 and again from 1941 to 1974. Today, it serves as the town hall and is a notable stop on the North Bend Rail Trail, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
