Mansion House, Cardiff

The Mansion House, located on Richmond Road in Cardiff, was the official residence of the Lord Mayor until 1995. Commissioned by James Howell and completed in 1896, this Neo-Baroque style building features a symmetrical design and was originally intended as a family home for Howell's 11 children. It has historical significance, having hosted notable figures such as the Prince of Wales and being a site for civic events. The house underwent renovations for the Cardiff European Council summit in 1998 and has been used for various functions, including weddings. It gained further fame with visits from celebrities like Catherine Zeta-Jones and appearances in the BBC series Doctor Who. The Mansion House was put up for sale in June 2025.
