Grüne Tanne

The Grüne Tanne, or Green Fir, is a historic inn located by the Camsdorf Bridge in Jena, Thuringia, Germany. With origins dating back to the Gothic period, it has been a popular destination for students from the University of Jena since its establishment in 1751. Notably, the famous poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe resided here during his time in Jena. The inn has served various roles throughout history, including a meeting place for trade unions and social democrats. After a period of disrepair during the German Democratic Republic, it was renovated in 1993 and has since resumed its function as a Gasthaus, offering a unique blend of history and hospitality.
