Super Bowl XL at Ford Field

Ford Field hosted Super Bowl XL on February 5, 2006, the first Super Bowl played in Detroit. The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 21–10 in the game. Ford Field is the home stadium of the NFL's Detroit Lions and was chosen to host the Super Bowl in recognition of its downtown indoor facility and metropolitan amenities.
