The Phillips Collection - America's First Museum of Modern Art

Founded in 1921 by collector Duncan Phillips, The Phillips Collection is often described as America’s first museum of modern art. It opened in a converted Dupont Circle townhouse and retains a house-museum character alongside public galleries.
