Lyceum Theatre (Boston)

The Lyceum Theatre, originally opened as the Boylston Museum in 1875, was a vibrant entertainment venue in Boston, Massachusetts, known for its variety performances and unique exhibits. Founded by George E. Lothrop, it transitioned into the World's Museum in 1885, expanding to accommodate 7,000 visitors with attractions including a menagerie, aquarium, and a hall of curiosities featuring performers with biological rarities. The theatre hosted notable acts during the vaudeville era, including Horace Lewis and Maggie Cline, before being renamed the Lyceum Theatre in 1892. It operated until its demolition in 1908, making way for the Gaiety Theatre, leaving behind a legacy of rich cultural history and entertainment.
