Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption (St. Mary's Cathedral)

The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, commonly called St. Mary’s Cathedral, is San Francisco's principal Catholic cathedral, completed in 1971 and noted for its modernist, saddle-shaped concrete design by architects Pietro Belluschi and Pier Luigi Nervi. The building's sculptural form and interior light quality are frequently cited as distinctive examples of 20th-century ecclesiastical architecture. The cathedral hosts liturgical services, concerts, and community events and contains several contemporary artworks and stained-glass installations.
