Loewenstein and Sons Hardware Building

The Loewenstein and Sons Hardware Building, also known as the Rite Aid Building, is a historic commercial structure in Charleston, West Virginia. Designed by the architectural firm Yost & Packard, this five-story building spans 35,000 square feet and showcases eclectic late Victorian and classical architectural details. Notable features include a central bay of oriel windows and Palladian windows on the fifth floor. The building housed a S.S. Kresge variety store from 1927 to 1971 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
