Istana Kampong Glam

Istana Kampong Glam, a former Malay palace in Singapore, is a significant historical site located near the iconic Masjid Sultan. Originally built in 1819 by Sultan Hussein Shah of Johor, the palace has undergone various transformations, with the current structure completed in 1843. Designed in a blend of Palladian and traditional Malay styles, it served as a royal residence until the early 20th century. Following a series of legal disputes over its ownership, the estate became state land and was later refurbished into the Malay Heritage Centre in 2004. In 2015, it was declared a national monument, making it a must-visit for tourists and researchers interested in Singapore's rich cultural heritage.
