Wilbur J. Cohen Federal Building

The Wilbur J. Cohen Federal Building, located at 330 Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C., is a historic office building originally designed in the Stripped Classical style with Egyptian elements by architect Charles Zeller Klauder in 1939. Completed in 1940, it initially served defense agencies during World War II before becoming the home of the Federal Security Agency and later the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Renamed in 1988 to honor Wilbur J. Cohen, a key figure in social security, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
