Shams-ol-Emareh

Shams-ol-Emareh, meaning 'Edifice of the Sun', is a stunning 19th-century palace located in Tehran, Iran, built between 1865 and 1867 during the Qajar dynasty. Standing at 35 meters tall, it was the tallest building in Tehran at the time and is notable for its unique blend of traditional Iranian and Western architectural styles. The palace features intricate decorations, including Qajar-style tiling and mirror-work, and served as a venue for cabinet meetings, accessed through the historic 'Ministers’ Door'. A gift from Queen Victoria, a clock once mounted atop the building fell silent for over a century before being restored in 2012. Today, Shams-ol-Emareh remains a significant cultural landmark and a testament to Tehran's architectural heritage, attracting tourists and researchers alike.
