Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium history

Texas Memorial Stadium opened in 1924 on the University of Texas campus as the home of the Longhorns football program. In 1996 the facility was renamed Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium to honor longtime coach Darrell K Royal. The stadium has been the site of the university's home football games and numerous expansions and renovations over decades.
