Hungerford Hall

Hungerford Hall, established in 1851 near Charing Cross in London, served as a vibrant lecture theatre for public entertainments, showcasing magic, mesmerism, and optical illusions. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by fire in 1854, causing significant damage to the nearby Hungerford Market. In 1857, Swiss-Italian entrepreneur Carlo Gatti transformed the site into a music hall, which was later acquired by the South Eastern Railway in 1862 and integrated into the Charing Cross railway station that opened in 1864.
