Forni della Signoria

The Forni della Signoria, or Bakeries of the Grandmaster, was a historic bakehouse in Valletta, Malta, established in the late 16th century by the Order of St John. It served as a vital source of bread for the local population and the military, including the French and British forces, until its closure in the 19th century. Designed by architect Girolamo Cassar, the bakery featured both baking facilities and an armoury. Over time, it became a central part of Valletta's infrastructure, giving its name to Old Bakery Street. Despite its historical significance, the building was demolished in 1926, paving the way for new developments, yet it remains a notable part of Valletta's rich history.
