Old Slaughter's Coffee House

Old Slaughter's Coffee House, established in 1692 in St Martin's Lane, London, was a vibrant hub for notable figures including chess players, artists, and writers. It was frequented by luminaries such as Benjamin Franklin and Henry Fielding, and served as a meeting place for the founding of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in 1824. The coffee house, known for its lively atmosphere and cultural significance, was demolished in 1843 to make way for Cranbourn Street.
