Belmont Mansion archaeological studies

Belmont Mansion on the Belmont University campus has been investigated archaeologically, revealing foundations, outbuilding traces, and artifact assemblages related to the 19th-century Acklen estate and its domestic and enslaved occupants. Excavations and surface surveys informed restoration decisions and exhibit interpretation at the historic house museum. The results are documented in site reports and incorporated into the site's historical programming.
