Abel Cathrines Stiftelse

Abel Cathrines Stiftelse is a historic building located in the Vesterbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark, originally established in 1675 by Abel Cathrine von der Wisch to provide housing for indigent women. The current structure, completed in 1886 and designed by Hermann Baagøe Storck, showcases the National Romantic architectural style. It features a symmetrical, four-winged design in red brick and was once home to 31 residences for women. The charity was dissolved in 1949, and the building has since served various purposes, including a refuge for the homeless. Notable for its historical significance and architectural beauty, it was listed as a protected building in 1980.
