San Francisco City Hall (Beaux-Arts civic center)

San Francisco City Hall is a Beaux-Arts building completed in 1915 that serves as the seat of the city's government. It replaced the original city hall destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and fire. The building's dome rises to 307 feet, taller than the U.S. Capitol dome. City Hall was the site of the 1978 assassinations of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk.
