Kingsley Building

The Kingsley Building, located at 1415 Lake Drive SE in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a historic mixed-use apartment building that was originally constructed in 1926 as the headquarters for the Grand Rapids Storage and Van Company. This five-story brick structure features a unique trapezoidal footprint and decorative terra cotta elements. Initially serving as a storage and office space, the building transitioned over the decades, with Zondervan Publishing leasing significant portions before moving out in 1990. After a period of decline, the building was renovated starting in 2011, transforming it into modern apartments while preserving its historical charm. The Kingsley Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, making it a notable site for both tourists and researchers interested in architectural history and urban development.
