Red Location Museum

The Red Location Museum, located in the New Brighton township of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, opened on November 10, 2006, as a tribute to the struggle against Apartheid. Designed by architect Jo Noero, the museum features a unique architecture made of corrugated iron boxes, encouraging visitors to engage actively with the exhibits. It includes an auditorium, library, art gallery, and a memorial space for local liberation heroes. Despite its accolades, including several prestigious architectural awards, the museum has been closed since 2013 due to community protests over housing issues, highlighting ongoing social challenges in the area.
